Who coaching is for

Recovery

"I'm clean, or I'm trying to be. The hard part is the ordinary Tuesday."

A coach who understands recovery meets you every week and helps you stay on the road.

Not a meeting or a program, just one man who knows where you are and asks how it went.

Family

"I want back in my kids' lives, and I don't know where to start."

Your coach helps you work out the next right step with your kids and their mom.

One kept promise at a time, until your word means something at home again.

Identity

"Nobody showed me how to lead a house, keep my word, or hold my temper."

Coaching is where you figure out the man you want to be, then become him.

One week at a time, with somebody holding you to it.

Erik Frederickson

Lead Coach · Recovery Coach

Erik knows the road because he walked it.

He's an overdose survivor who has been clean since 2009, and he'll tell you he wasn't just cleaned up, he was transformed through Christ.

For more than 12 years he's worked as a Christian life and recovery coach, walking with people one week at a time.

He founded Recovering Reality, wrote the book Recovering Reality: Freedom from the Torment of Addiction, and hosts The Recovering Reality Podcast with his wife, Mayana.

He's a Tuscarawas County guy, and he's stood on the courthouse plaza in New Philadelphia to tell his story at the county's overdose awareness gathering.

As lead coach for The Fatherhood Initiative, he meets one-on-one with dads every week, around your schedule.

"Every single one of us can make an impact. This amount of people right here is enough people to transform this entire community."Erik Frederickson, speaking in New Philadelphia, August 2023

Straight answers to fair questions

"Do I have to be in the workshop to get a coach?" +

No.

Coaching stands on its own.

A lot of guys do both, and any dad in the workshop can add coaching in any week.

"Do I have to be in recovery?" +

No.

Recovery is one reason men ask for a coach.

Family, and figuring out how to be the man your kids need, are the others.

"Is it confidential?" +

Yes.

What you share with your coach stays with your coach.

Nobody in the room on workshop night hears it unless you say it.

"Is this counseling?" +

No.

Coaching is a man walking alongside you, week by week.

If you need counseling, we connect you to it and keep walking with you.

"What does it cost?" +

Nothing.

Coaching is free, like everything else in The Fatherhood Initiative.

You don't have to do this alone.

Every week, one man who knows your name and asks how it went.

That's the whole idea.

Ask for a coach.
